純
pure, unmixed
純 is composed of the radical 糸 (silk) and 屯 (store up). 屯 is a pictograph of a plant as it sprouts, and its original meaning is the initial growth of plants. When all things first come into being, they are naturally simple and free of impurities. Therefore, 純 conveys the idea of undyed silk, and later came to describe anything that is pure and free of impurities.
