繞 is composed of the BuShou of 糸 (silk) and 堯 (embankment). 堯 is a protruding mound, which means obstacle, 糸 is the picture of a coil, which means extension. The mound blocks the way forward, so we must go in another direction, and the path will be extended accordingly. If you want to wrap or surround an object, you must have a long silk thread.
