緯 is composed of 糸(silk) and 韋 (soft leather). 糸 is the picture of a coil, means weaving and lines. 韋 depicts two feet walking around an enclosure, one foot is pointing left while another foot is pointing right, so 緯 means horizontal thread in weaving.
