繕 is composed of the radical 糸 (silk) and a variant of 善 (good). 糸 represents silk thread, while 善 means good or fine. Silk thread can be used to sew up holes in cloth. Therefore, 繕 conveys the idea of restoring something defective back to its original good state, and means to repair, to mend, or to put in order.
