佈 is composed of the radical 人 (person) and 布 (cloth). 布 is a pictograph of a hand holding a stone axe to cut cloth for making clothing; before cutting, the cloth must be spread out, thus extending to the meanings of spreading out and arranging. The human heart is easily manipulated, much like cloth that can be spread or folded.
