眷 is composed of 龹 and 目(eye). 龹 is the picture of threshing, ancient Chinese use threshing machine to separate the grains from stalks, while the machine has wheel inside, so 龹 has the meaning of rolling or turning around, so 眷, which generated from the combination of 龹 and 目, means looking back, when there is someone or something we concern, we look back, family is what we concern most.
