睹 is composed of 目 (eye) and 者 (this, person). 者 depicts a pile of firewood being used to start a fire for cooking, and from the pile of firewood it extends to the meaning of gathering or accumulation. When the gaze is concentrated and focused, everything can be seen clearly. Therefore, 睹 is used to mean to see or to behold.
