睘 is composed of a variant of 目 (eye), a variant of 衣 (clothing), and a pictograph of a circular jade artifact. The eyeball is spherical, clothing can envelop the body, and the circular jade artifact represents a ring, so all three components convey the idea of a circle. Together, they form 睘 to express the concept of a ring or circle. The meaning of 睘 was later taken over by 環. Nowadays, 睘 is not used independently and only serves as a component in other characters.
