悤 is composed of a variant of 囪 (chimney, window) and 心 (heart). 囪 depicts a grid-like window that allows light to pass through, and 悤 conveys the idea of a clear or transparent mind. Originally, it meant intelligence, but this meaning was later taken over by 聰. A clear-minded person acts quickly, so 悤 also carried the meaning of haste or urgency, which was later taken over by 匆. Nowadays, 悤 is not used independently and only serves as a component in other characters.
