擭 is composed of the BuShou of 手(hand) and蒦. 蒦 depicts a hand catching a bird which is hiding in a bush of reeds, while human beings catch something by hands. 擭 means trap for catching animals, then generates the meaning of obtaining or catching, but now we seldom use it.
