胯 is composed of the radical 肉 (flesh) and 夸 (praise). 肉 represents the body, while 夸 is a pictograph of a person crossing over an obstacle. When a person crosses an obstacle, they spread their legs apart. Therefore, 胯 is used to refer to the part between the side of the waist and the thighs.
