鋪 is composed of 金(gold, metal) and 甫(just).甫 depicts an offspring growing in a field, crops spread and are displayed on field in a tidy way, so 甫 has the meaning of display or exhibition. 金 represents ancient mental ritual vessels, when ancient people conduct a rite, they will display the ritual vessels. On the other hand, shop owners always display the goods they want to sell in their shop, so 鋪 is also used to mean shop.
