軟 is composed of車(a car) and欠(the picture of a man blowing out air). After blown, human body will become baggy as a deflated balloon, so欠 also bears the meaning of softness and smoothness. In addition, smooth wheels is important for the running of a car, therefore車 is used as an affix of 軟.
