嬗 is composed of 女 (woman) and 亶 (true, real). 亶 is composed of 㐭 (granary) and 旦 (dawn), conveying the image of a granary built on flat, open land. Grain stored in a granary needs to be rotated and replaced every year. Additionally, the ancients believed that women’s emotions often fluctuate and change unpredictably. Therefore, 嬗 is used to express the meaning of “alternation” or “replacement”.
