攴 is composed of又(the picture of right hand) and卜(the picture of a stick or tool here, but has no relation with the meaning of卜), depicts a hand holding a stick or tool. 攴 is no longer an independent HanZi, it only exists as a BusShou or affix of the other HanZis such as敲 and 敊. 攴 shares the same pronunciation and meaning as攵 and 扑.
