丑 is the picture of twisting fingers. 丑 has the meaning of twisting, but such meaning has been replaced by 扭, now 丑 is used to means the 2nd earthly branch (地支).
On the other hand, 丑 also means clown, a clown always amuse the others by twisting his face.
