獲 is composed of the BuShou of 犬(dog) and蒦. 蒦 depicts a hand catching a bird which is hiding in a bush of reeds. Dog is proficient in hunting, when a man gets its help, he can catch the prey easily. 獲 means prey, then generates the meaning of obtaining or catching.
