甫 depicts an offspring in the field, its original meaning is 'garden', but such meaning has been replace by 圃. Ancient China was an agricultural society, cultivation was male work, so 甫 was also used as the respectful form of address of man, similar to 男, both of them used field(田) to represent male. On the other hand, offspring is the nascent state of a plant, so 甫 also has the meaning of 'just' and 'beginning'.
