瘓
numbness
瘓 is composed of 疒 (disease) and 奐 (excellent). 疒 indicates illness or sickness, while 奐 depicts two hands pulling a person out from a cave to the outside. A person who has been in darkness for a long time, suddenly exposed to bright light, would naturally be shocked and stunned into immobility. Therefore, 瘓 is used to represent a condition of paralysis or inability to move.
