望 is composed of 亡 (die, perish) and 日 (moon) and 𡈼 (good). 𡈼 depicts a man standing on a mound, 亡 is the phonetic symbol of 望 which has no meaning, so 望 is the picture of a man standing on a mound, and looking to the moon with his protruding eyes. 望 has the same meaning and pronunciation as 朢, now we no longer use 朢, but use 望 instead.
