癹 is composed of 癶 and 殳. 癶 depicts two feet walking outward, 殳 is the variant of 攴, 攴 depicts a hand holding a stick or tool, so 癹 is the picture of two feet stepping on the weeds and a hand holding a tool to mow, which has the meaning of mowing. On the other hand, 癹 is also used to describe something abandoned, but such meaning has been replaced by 廢.
