景 is composed of 日 (sun) and 京 (capital, high). 日 is a pictograph of the sun, while 京 is a pictograph of a tall building. Thus, 景 depicts the scene of viewing the sun from a high building. Being close to the sun from a tall building, the sunlight is surely stronger, and surrounding scenery can be seen more clearly.
